Our Values

Uptown Church is guided by three core values that shape who we are and govern what we do: Devotion, Community, and Mission

Devotion – God desires for each of us to love him above all else. We will delight in God together, for who he is and what he has done, worshipping him in every aspect of our lives.

Matthew 22:37-38 “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment’”

Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”

Community – We will love one another, living life together, laughing, grieving, celebrating, serving and growing together as God’s church.

John 13:34-35 [Jesus speaking] “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another”

Romans 12:10, 15 “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another… Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.”

Mission – We will proclaim and live out the gospel of Jesus Christ in Martinsville, and everywhere we go, inviting others to respond to God’s grace and worship him.

Matthew 28:18-19 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.'”

Acts 1:8 [Jesus speaking] “ … you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Romans 10:13-14 “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”
